American glass artist Dale Chihuly began blowing glass in the late 1960's. During those days glassblowing in America was a personal art where people would create a piece by themselves. When Chihuly was in Italy he learned what can be achieved with glass blowing through team-work. He brought this approach back to the United States, along with some of the most accomplished Italian glass artists, and built what is now a glass enterprise. His works are now displayed all over the world in places such as Las Vegas, Seattle and Jerusalem. In Stanwood, Washington Chihuly setup a hot shop that is nestled in the woods with a view of the Puget Sound. This was where most of his early work was made, that location is now home to Pilchuch Glass School.
